Government Issues a Regulation on Incentives for Livestock Farmers

The Government has issued Regulation No. 6 of 2013 on Livestock Farmer Incentives (“2013 Regulation”), which implements Article 76 (5) of Law No. 18 of 2009 on Livestock and Animal Health (“Law”). Article 76 (5) mandates the issuance of a Government Regulation on incentives for the livestock sector.

The 2013 Regulation stipulates incentives for livestock farmers - who are not obliged to secure a livestock permit (“small-scale livestock farmers”) - in order to promote domestic beef industry. The issuance of the 2013 Regulation is expected to address recent developments concerning the ban on the import of cattle beef,[1] which resulted in cattle beef scarcity.[2]
