Creating an Inventory of Forest Production

With a renewed focus on conservation and maximizing forest management strategies into the future the Minister of Forestry has issued Regulation No. P.10/Menhut-II/2006 (the “Regulation”). The Regulation addresses a number of important components of the conservation and maximizing production strategy, particularly the evaluation of current standing stock levels, reforestation of felled areas, and more regulated, as well as continuous monitoring and reporting of current forest management statistics.

The inventory of total forest resources is to occur at least once every 5 years. However, this inventory is to be taken at least annually in blocks currently subject to exploitation operations. The inventory is the responsibility of the relevant business license holder (IUPHHK). The process and method, as well as any permissible margins of error, for undertaking the inventory will be determined, presumably by the Minister, in a separate regulation or decision.
