The Minister of Industry has issued Regulation No.71/M-IND/PER/7/2012 on Oversight and Control of the Alcoholic Beverages Industry (“Regulation”), which serves to re-regulate industry players who produce alcoholic beverages in Indonesia.
Pursuant to Article 2, the Regulation is of concern to producers of alcohol beverages of Class A (1-5 % ethyl alcohol level), Class B (5-20 % ethyl alcohol level), and Class C (20–55 % ethyl alcohol level). This also includes traditional alcoholic beverage producers that are only allowed to produce 25 litres/day and may only sell it within their regency or city (Art. 8). (For a discussion on traditional alcohol beverages see ILB No. 1638, dated 8 April 2011).
