Govt. Establishes Guidelines for the Management of Frequently Misused Drugs

The Head of the National Agency for Food and Drug Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan- “BPOM”) has issued Regulation No. 7 of 2016 on Guidelines for the Management of Certain Types of Frequently Misused Drugs (“2016 Regulation”).

The 2016 Regulation stipulates procedures for the procurement, storage, distribution, disposal, documentation, and reporting of certain types of drugs by the following parties:

1.	Pharmaceutical industries (“Industries”);
2.	Pharmaceutical wholesalers (“Wholesalers); and
3.	Pharmaceutical installations in hospitals and clinics (“Pharmaceutical Installations”), as well as Drugstores.[1]
