BPOM Introduces New Application Procedure for Cosmetics Notifications

In an attempt to update the legal framework for the cosmetics sector,[1] the Head of the National Agency for Drug and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan – “BPOM”) has issued Regulation No. 12 of 2020 on Procedures for the Submission of Cosmetics Notifications (“Regulation 12/2020”).

Regulation 12/2020 sets out new guidelines that address the procedure which has to be followed in order to secure cosmetics notifications (“Notification”) while also repealing and replacing Regulation of the Head of the BPOM No. HK.03.1.23.12.10.11983 of 2010 on Criteria and Procedures for Cosmetics Notification Applications, which was amended once through the issuance of Regulation No. 34 of 2013 (“Previous Regulation”).[2]
