Halal Certification Made Easier: UMK with Sales of up to Rp. 15 Billion Now Eligible for Self-Declared Halal Certification

The Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal/BPJPH) recently introduced a new set of technical instructions that address the organization of halal certification services for Micro- and Small-Scale Business Actors (Usaha Mikro dan Kecil – “UMK”) that are based on halal statements through the issuance of Decree No. 146 of 2025 (“Decree 146/2025”), which officially came into force on 8 July 2025.[1] Upon its enforcement, Decree 146/2025 simultaneously repealed and replaced the previous framework of Decree No. 150 of 2022, as amended by Decree No. 22 of 2023 (collectively referred to as “Decree 150/2022”), which bore the same title and addressed the same matters as Decree 146/2025.[2]
